Families without children: 28.7%

Number of families where children are the head of household: 31,512

Number of children has decreased by 10.9% in the last 10 years.

Kamal Bahadur Shah has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim.

A new bird species has been found in Mustang.

 

Bird Name: Taludharse Arjun 

English Name: Spotted Flycatcher 

Scientific Name: Muscicapa Striata 

Location and Date of Discovery: On 18th August 2021, Ravid Sanjay Thapa Shrestha and Shankar Tiwari spotted the bird in the summer area at an altitude of 3,650 meters above sea level. 

Total Number of Bird Species Found in Nepal: 896 species.

 

 

Monetary Policy 2081/82: Here are the new provisions

 

The Nepal Rastra Bank has published the monetary policy for the fiscal year 2081/82 on the 11th of Shrawan, 2081! Here are its key features:

 

The upper limit of the interest rate corridor is set at 6.5% from 7%, while the policy rate is fixed at 5.0% from 5.5%. The lower limit for the interest rate corridor, which is the deposit collection rate, remains unchanged at 3.0%.

There will be encouragement for the use of capital fund instruments and new tools.

The existing loan loss provisioning for good loans will be reduced from 1.20% to 1.10%.

A necessary review will be made regarding the risk weight framework for loan buy/sell transactions.

The current limit for the Regulatory Retail Portfolio will be increased from Rs. 2 crore to a maximum of Rs. 2.5 crore.

The timeframe for the adjustments required through variance analysis in working capital loans will be extended, effective from Shrawan 1, 2082.

The limit of Rs. 1 crore set for small, domestic, medium, and large enterprises will be re-evaluated.

A provision will be made for microfinance customers who are unable to repay loans due to circumstances to be able to restructure their loans by paying a certain percentage of interest.

The arrangement for loan adjustments required through variance analysis will have its timeframe extended from Shrawan 1, 2082, and the limit of Rs. 1 crore for small, domestic, medium, and large enterprises will be reviewed and revised in the working capital loan guidelines.

The existing maximum limit of Rs. 20 crore for loans secured by shares for institutional investors will be removed.

The existing limit for the exchange facility available when importing goods through drafts/TT will be increased from USD 35,000 to USD 50,000.

A draft of the Asset Management Act will be prepared and submitted to the government, along with guidelines for artificial intelligence (AI).

The implementation of the monetary policy is expected to promote stability in prices and external sectors, maintain financial stability, enhance effective financial intermediation, increase financial inclusion, modernize the payment system to be more secure and reliable, and assist in achieving the economic targets set by the Nepal government.

Inflation will be maintained around 5%.

 

 

 

Singer Lakshmiprasad (LP) Joshi has passed away.

Born in 1993 in the Dhankuta market, singer Joshi was affectionately titled the 'Emperor of Folk Songs' by the public.

He sang dozens of timeless songs, including 'Don't Play the Riting Riting', 'Open the Upper River, Open the Lower River, Beautiful Circle, Sir', 'The Young One Danced in the Wavy Field', and 'Little Sister Matyangtyang'.

Nepal Elected as Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Region of the United Nations Economic and Social Council

 

Nepal has been elected as the Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific region of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

 

When? : July 25, 2024 (10th Shrawan, 2081)

Nepal's representative to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa, will lead the 54-member ECOSOC. Next year, Nepal will hold the presidency for the Asia-Pacific region. In 2023, Nepal was elected as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

 

 

A Saurya Airlines plane crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport, resulting in the deaths of 18 people.

 

When? : 9th Shrawan, 2081 

The plane, which was en route from Kathmandu to Pokhara for maintenance, crashed at 11:11 AM on the 9th. 

One person was injured and 18 people lost their lives in the accident.
